Mediterranean cruise planned in May

MARTIN – The University of Tennessee at Martin will conduct a travel-study program to Italy, Greece and Croatia, May 22-31.

Among the highlights of the travel-study cruise to the Mediterranean is the first stop in Venice, the fabled Italian city of the Adriatic Sea. The group will tour this city of 150 canals which is built over 117 islands, including Murano, then board the cruise ship and sail the Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean seas.

Visits are planned to historical sites within of the following ports of call throughout the seven-day journey:
• Ancona, Italy, situated on the Adriatic Sea, featuring the Romanesque church of St. Cyriacus;
• Santorini/Thira, Greece, often considered the most dramatic of the Cyclades Islands;
• Mykonos, Greece, which offers winding streets, beaches, domed churches and windmills;
• Athens/Piraeus, Greece's largest port that has been a gateway to the Mediterranean since 482 BC;
• Corfu, Greece, a scythe-shaped island, considered one of the Mediterranean's best-kept secrets; and
• Dubrovnik, Croatia, rich in historical heritage and culture.

The cost is $2,900 per person. This includes roundtrip airfare from Memphis to Venice, seven nights aboard the cruise ship and daily meals.
